Winter Escape to Sicily (we hope)

Have you seen Mount Etna in Sicily?  I have not...but I hope to see it soon.  When I was a lad, at 18 years of age, I joined the Alabama Army National Guard.  I was sworn in, along side Terry Carter, who was 17 at the time.  This was in 1967. Terry and I attended basic training and AIT together at Fort Jackson, SC.  After we returned from training, Terry continued his career in the Guard and I joined the Army.  After I returned from Vietnam, I rejoined the Alabama Army Guard and continued my military career.  During this time, Terry and I roomed together in Mobile, while we both attended the University of South Alabama.  Fast forward, almost 50 years,  we are still very close friends and meet whenever or wherever we can.
A couple of weeks ago, Terry called me and said he and Mary were boarding a C17 cargo plane at Norfolk Naval Air Station, Va and were on the way to Sicily.  Would we care to join them?  Linda checked our calendar and I told him we should be able to get there in 2 or 3 weeks.  Tonight Linda and I are en route to Norfolk.  There is a "Space A" flight leaving tomorrow for Rota, Spain and Sigonella, Sicily.  41 seats are available and we are going to try and get two of them.
If we are successful in this endeavor,  then we should be joining up with Terry and Mary on Wednesday.
I will continue this blog when we get to Sicily.
The adventure continues........
